School Groups Visit MMA

MMA welcomed middle school groups from Plymouth, MA for a campus tour. I was able to talk to the groups yesterday and today about Follow the Voyage, and the upcoming 2011 Sea Tour. We took a look at the website for Follow the Voyage and handed out some new flyers so they know where to find us.

I was able to introduce myself as the new FTV Coordinator, and several of the MMA cadets were on hand to talk about past experiences aboard the T/V Kennedy during Sea Term. Everyone seemed to have a great time and there were many questions. Some of the students even said they were already planning on attending MMA after high school graduation!! Thanks to the cadets for all their help today. Stay tuned and check out the group picture!

Anchors Away!

AHOY!

I wanted to take the time to introduce myself. I am the new Follow the Voyage coordinator for the 2011 Sea Term. My name is Rhonda Moniz, and I have been going to sea off and on for the better part of twenty years. My background includes working as a diving instructor, Dive Safety Officer, and as an ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) Pilot.

This past summer I spent two months aboard a research vessel as an ROV pilot off the coasts of Greece and Turkey. I am not new to the sea, just new to the MMA Sea Term. I hope to have some exciting blogs and great pics for everyone, both topside and underwater. For the fall I will be working with school groups in anticipation of our voyage. Anchors Away!!!
