FTV 1/26/11

Cadets prepare today for midterm examinations tomorrow. The freshman will be tested on all aspects of their training up to date. The upperclassman will be quizzed by their instructors in the marine engine and marine transportation departments. Since leaving Vera Cruz the ship has done quite a lot more rolling than the weeks prior to our first port.

For a while now the ship has been in a different time zone than most of our readers. As we head east toward Barbados, we will advance the clocks forward an hour. For the division that has watch, a system is used so that the Midnight to 0400 watches do not receive an hour off. The group that has watch from 2000-2400 will be relieved 20 minutes earlier than usual. Then the 2400-0400 will be relieved forty minutes earlier than usual. The 0400-0800 watch gets relived 60 minutes earlier. It sounds confusing, but each of the fore mentioned watches get 20 minutes off of their 4 hour cycle.
