FTV Sunday at Sea

Today was our first Sunday at Sea on board the TS Kennedy! Sunday at sea is a tradition have here on Kennedy.

Today is a day where the work day is shortened and reveille is not announced in the morning. Some of the cadets get to do one of the most valuable things today, sleep in! Today if you walked around on deck you would find cadets laying out catching some rays or hanging out with friends relaxing in the nice weather.

The ships mess deck crew prepare an awesome Cookout for us on the Helo deck of the ship. And tonight for dinner they will be cooking up some great steaks that we can eat outside again. Tonight inspections for the underclassman berthing (living) areas will be canceled on account of the Sunday at sea. This is one of the best days at sea because the cadets get a chance to relax and unwind from a long week of work. Tomorrow the work day will resume and back to business as usual, patiently awaiting the next Sunday at sea!

Sunshine is essential for our health and well-being. Being outside in the sunshine is a big part of life here on the Kennedy. We have all, at some time, enjoyed the warming sensation of the sun's rays on our skin. It is not considered safe, however, for us to be exposed to the sun's rays without appropriate protection.Learn more here and then try the quiz.

Here are some more sun safe activities for you to try
